I can’t read music.
Reply: The ability to
read music is not a requirement for choir members, and you’d be
surprised at how many do not. There are singers in each section
who do, and voices make it easier for non- readers to learn and
sing with confidence.
I can’t be here for
every single Wednesday night rehearsal.
Reply: Neither can
anyone else! Life happens! Family and job related events are
sometimes scheduled for Wednesday nights! Fortunately, anthems
are rehearsed several weeks before they are offered in worship,
and this rarely presents a problem!
I already know I’m
going to miss a couple of Sundays.
Reply: Choir members
travel on weekends! The directors only ask that singers sign out
so they have the option of choosing anthems that can accommodate
fewer singers. No guilt or shame involved!
I haven’t sung for
quite some time. My voice isn’t what it used to be!
Reply: You’re welcome
to a four week trial membership! No kidding! In four weeks,
you’ll be able to tell whether your voice is beginning to come
back.
I don’t know if I
have the energy for an evening rehearsal.
Reply: In the four week
trial period, you’ll pretty much know whether singing in the
choir wears you out or enlivens your spirit. If it enlivens your
spirit, you will find a desire to schedule Wednesday and Sunday
times for choir.
