SPECIAL EVENTS

Sunday School Kickoff

The program year starts with a special activity for all ages in the Colonial Room on September 12th. The children will enjoy breakfast with Rev beginning at 9:30am. This is a family event! After eating breakfast, the children will report to their classrooms and the adults will continue breakfast while participating in the How to Choose a Bible session led by Rev and Betty Davis. Various Bibles and study materials will be available for viewing.

Smile Train

The Women's Ministry will once again be collecting your coins for the Smile Train mission. With your help, this mission provides life changing free cleft surgery and treatment for poor children. This not only gives these children a new smile, but a new life. There will be a collection bottle with the Smile Train display in the Connective, along with decorated cans if you need a container to collect your change. Collection Sundays will be September 12th  and 19th. Contact Joanne Sater with any questions.

Young-at-Heart

The Young-at-Heart group will meet on Saturday, September 18th at Rev and Linda's Buckeye Lake home from 4:00 to 9:30pm. Meat, desserts and table service will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share and your favorite beverage to drink. Boat rides and other water activities begin around 4:00pm. This will be a fun and relaxing evening away from the it all, so mark your calendars and be sure to join us. Contact Jackie with any questions.

Library Awareness Month

The Adult Education Team will be hosting the after worship refreshments in the third floor library on Sunday, September 19th to promote awareness of our church library and all it has to offer. If you are not familiar with our church library, this is an excellent opportunity to visit. All materials may be reviewed and checked out any time the church is open. Stop by and visit.

First Nighters

The First Nighters will enjoy their annual wiener roast at the Pool Party Barn on October 5th. They will not be meeting in September. So make your plans now to join the group for a fun evening. Bring a covered dish to share and your lawn chair. Drinks, hotdogs, buns and wiener sticks will be provided by the hosts. This special event begins at 5:00pm. Call Ed or Martha Pool for directions if needed.

                                        Recycle

We invite you to help us participate in a great program that has a multitude of benefits.  Not only will you be performing a valuable global and community service, you will also be raising all-important funds for our church.

                                                     Paper

First Presbyterian is  participating in Paper Retriever Program sponsored by Abitibi Recycling.    Each ton of paper we collect earns money to help the church office budget.

You can help the church and yourself at the same time.  Collect your recycled paper and bring it to the church – there’s a bin in the parking lot behind the church.  You can drop your paper off at any time.  It’s always available.

We CAN take:

Newspapers  Post-It Notes

Magazines  Computer Paper

Catalogs  Fax Paper

Junk Mail  Folders

Envelopes  Posters

We CANNOT take:

 Laminated Paper  Metal
Food Containers  Glass
Milk Cartons  Phone Books
Plastic of any kind  Cardboard

Recycle inkjet, laser cartridges and cell phones

We are now collecting empty HP and DELL only inkjet and laser cartridges. Inkjet cartridges can be placed in a sandwich bag deposited in our collection bins located in the Narthex and the office.  Cell phones and laser cartridges can be dropped off at the office.  We will take all makes and styles of phones.

Together we can make a difference!
