Women at the Well Bible Study
A few women, who wanted
to get to know God more intimately, as well as each other,
originally formed this women’s Bible study group. The material
studied has ranged from a study of scripture to studying
different books and materials. However, all the studies are
firmly rooted in the teaching of Christ and God’s message to us
and are. structured so members do not have to be present at each
study to feel a part of the group.
On September 14 a new
study began. In A Busy Woman’s Guide to Prayer: Forget the
Guilt and Find the Gift, Cheri Fuller shares her secrets of
living, continual prayer that is a deep joy, not a duty or
obligation that brings more guilt. Instead of another task to be
checked off their already crowded "To-Do" list, the members hope
to discover creative ideas to weave prayer into the fabric of
each day.
This Bible study meets
from noon till 1:00pm every Thursday in the church library. Bring
your lunch and join us! Facilitators for this group are Mary Ann
Boone and Peg Wysong.

Young Women’s Bible Study
This group is meeting
on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 9:00am in
the church library. A new study began on August 31st. The
group is reading Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman by
Beth Moore. This is a DVD/workbook study.
Join other young women
to study and encourage one another. Childcare is available.
Facilitator for this group is Kim Johnson. Please call Kim with
any questions.

Presbyterian Women
Women at Lancaster First Presbyterian
Church meet in circles locally and are connected to churches in
the Presbytery of Scioto Valley and the Synod of the Covenant
through Presbyterian Women (PW), an organization of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The PW Purpose states:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ,
and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we
commit ourselves:
to nurture our faith through prayer and
Bible study,
to support the mission of the church
worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of
women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.)
and witnesses to the promise of God’s
kingdom.
Currently we have one PW circle:

Loyalty Circle
Loyalty Circle meets
monthly, September through June, on the third Wednesday at
9:30am at the church. Over the past year our offerings have
supported medical mission co-workers Dr. Mike & Nancy Haninger
in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and also
Buckhorn Children's Center of Ohio. We also individually make
mission pledges to support PW and the mission of the
church at the Presbytery, Synod and Churchwide levels. We also
study the Bible together. This year's study will
be Journeys Through Revelation: Apocalyptic Hope for
Today. Revelation will be challenge to study and we look
forward to taking it in small sections to get through it in a
year.
Also we want to offer a
special invitation to those participating in the Moms Morning
Out program. We would love to have you study the Bible with us
once a month. Our meetings are over by 11:00am which would still
give you time to run an errand or two before you pick up your
children.
We realize many women
are not available during the day to participate. If you would
like to be part of a circle, we would love to work with you to
make this happen. There are lots of other options open for when
a circle meets, how it is
structured and what you do in a circle. If you're interested,
contact Martha Pool.

Knit Together
organized in 2005 to combine knitting (or crocheting) and
prayer. Members create projects to minister to those who are
grieving, lonely or sick as well as others who might be
celebrating special events in their lives. While we work on
projects for specific persons we will also weave into them our
prayers. Prayer knitting is the place where these two worlds
meet – where we can begin to knit wholeness into a fractured
world.
We meet on the first
and third Mondays of each month at 7:00pm in the church library.
Come join us and find out more about this circle of knitters.
This ministry has no boundaries: you can knit or crochet, you
can be a novice or an accomplished knitter, and you are never
too young or too old to learn how to knit. Circle leader is
Martha Pool.
You won’t find us knitting together on
Labor Day but come two weeks later on Monday, September 19,
at 7:00pm in the church library and you’ll find a friendly bunch
of knitters working on various projects – prayer shawls,
stocking hats, washcloths – for giving away to others. Knit
Together meets regularly on the first and third Monday evenings
and you’re welcome to attend whenever it fits your schedule. For
more information, contact Martha Pool.
