Women at the Well Bible Study

A few women, who wanted to get to know God more intimately, as well as each other, originally formed this women’s Bible study group. The material studied has ranged from a study of scripture to studying different books and materials. However, all the studies are firmly rooted in the teaching of Christ and God’s message to us and are. structured so members do not have to be present at each study to feel a part of the group.

On September 14 a new study began. In A Busy Woman’s Guide to Prayer: Forget the Guilt and Find the Gift, Cheri Fuller shares her secrets of living, continual prayer that is a deep joy, not a duty or obligation that brings more guilt. Instead of another task to be checked off their already crowded "To-Do" list, the members hope to discover creative ideas to weave prayer into the fabric of each day.

This Bible study meets from noon till 1:00pm every Thursday in the church library. Bring your lunch and join us! Facilitators for this group are Mary Ann Boone and Peg Wysong.

Young Women’s Bible Study

Young women of the church gather on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in the church library from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. They have studied various subjects and beginning on January 10 they began studying Daniel, by Beth Moore.

This new study will have a workbook to accompany the book study along with special DVDs that will be viewed at each gathering.

Join other young women to study and encourage one another. Childcare is available. Facilitator for this group is Kim Johnson.

Presbyterian Women

Women at Lancaster First Presbyterian Church meet in circles locally and are connected to churches in the Presbytery of Scioto Valley and the Synod of the Covenant through Presbyterian Women (PW), an organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The PW Purpose states:

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ,

and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:

to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,

to support the mission of the church worldwide,

to work for justice and peace, and

to build an inclusive, caring community of women

that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

Currently we have two PW circles:

Loyalty Circle is a fellowship of caring women who meet regularly for prayer, Bible study, and mission work. Monthly meetings are held September through June on the third Wednesday at 10:00am (usually in Room 324 although sometimes we meet in homes or have a luncheon away from the church). New members are always welcome.

Members share in leading this year’s Bible studying In the Beginning: Perspectives on Genesis. This study will examine familiar stories from the book of Genesis from a fresh point of view. This study also calls attention to parts of Genesis that are less familiar, characters who have been ignored, and voices that have been muted, if not outright silenced.

This circle of women is also actively involved in mission projects on the local, presbytery and global levels. Circle Leader is Peg Wysong.

Knit Together organized in 2005 to combine knitting (or crocheting) and prayer. Members create projects to minister to those who are grieving, lonely or sick as well as others who might be celebrating special events in their lives. While we work on projects for specific persons we will also weave into them our prayers. Prayer knitting is the place where these two worlds meet – where we can begin to knit wholeness into a fractured world.

We meet on the first and third Mondays of each month at 7:00pm in the church library. Come join us and find out more about this circle of knitters. This ministry has no boundaries: you can knit or crochet, you can be a novice or an accomplished knitter, and you are never too young or too old to learn how to knit. Circle leader is Martha Pool.
